The first stop of the day is the picnic area at Merridale
Cider where they pop the cork of their champagne cider
for your enjoyment. Learn how to taste, and what to look for in
cider before you begin your journey into cider making. Tastings
in the beautiful house include all of their ciders, including the
newly released winter apple (absolutely delicious) When you finish
the tour you will be a cider connoisseur. Then it’s on to
Glenterra Vineyard where the wine is aged in French
oak and you can enjoy scenic valley views. Barrel fermenting and
minimal filtration produce their full bodied, complex wines which
you will enjoy samples of in the cozy tasting room. Next is Cherry
Point Vineyard where you will enjoy an in depth guided
tour involving a look at grape growing and wine making at a "farm"
winery ending up in the tasting room to sample the current Cherry
Point wines. This will be followed by a buffet lunch on
the vineyard patio. Save a little room though because next
we are off to Hilary’s Fine Cheeses to sample
their locally produced cheeses. Hilary & Patty Abbott are the
only cheese makers in the Cowichan Valley and they produce some
delicious cheese. The final stop of the day is Blue Grouse
Vineyard a family ‘estate winery’ where ‘infinite
small steps are taken with precision and pride, dedicated to creating
excellence in a bottle’. To a great day......Cheers !
