Day West Coast, Vancouver Island Journey!
A 3 day journey on beautiful Vancouver Island
on the West Coast of Canada. We will travel north taking in beautiful
vistas, serene farm country, and sandy beaches as far as Courtenay
in the Comox Valley and west by bus and boat past placid lakes,
sparkling creeks, and old growth forests to the wild, windblown
Long Beach at Ucluelet and Tofino
on the West Coast. But don't think this is just a sightseeing
trip!
Along the way we enjoy a diverse range of experiences including
Agriculture, First Nations and their heritage, Arts and Culture,
Theater, and Dining from roadside catered lunches to fine dining.
Truly a little taste of everything this beautiful region has to
offer! I mean Bag lunches.

Brief
Itinerary :
Day 1: Tour the Cowichan Valley and Chemainus with
dinner and Theater. Overnight at a B and B in Chemainus.
Day 2: Tour the Central Island area as far North
as Courtenay. Overnight in a Hotel in Port Alberni.
Day 3: Cruise down the Alberni Inlet aboard the MV
Frances Barkley and tour the rugged West Coast of Vancouver Island
This is a long day. We will leave the West Coast approximately 3 PM
for the trek back across the Island to your place of origin |

Package Details:
Day 1: We travel over the beautiful Malahat
mountain pass to the Cowichan Valley, with stops
enroute at Goldstream Park and Split Rock
Viewpoint. We will travel through the rural countryside,
stopping at various attractions, including wine tasting at Cherry
Point Vineyard and the fishing village of Cowichan
Bay before arriving in Duncan where you will have time to
visit the Quw'utsun Cultural Center. We will also
have lunch here. Lunch is traditional native fare including barbecued
salmon and bannock. After lunch we will visit the BC Forest
Discovery Center and have a ride on their steam train. Then
it's on to the “Little Town that Did”. Chemainus
is world famous for its collection of life-sized outdoor art. 32 murals
decorate the walls of this unique community and you will be treated
to a guided tour aboard our “Steam Train”
or on a horse drawn carriage. There is still lots of daylight left.
Plenty of time to enjoy an ice cream cone, find that something special
in one of the many antique shops, or simply book into your accommodation
for some relaxation. Dinner is served at the fantastic Chemainus
Theater and followed by the evening performance. You'll enjoy
this experience. The show isn't over until 10 PM, and I know you'll
be beat, so ...back to your accommodation and Goodnight.......
Day 2: We'll pick you up at your accommodation
around 10 AM after you have been served breakfast. This morning
we go for a leisurely drive through the historic town of Ladysmith
and the rural and scenic Cedar area. We arrive in the Harbor City
of Nanaimo around lunchtime. We'll have time to
enjoy a walk on the Boardwalk and study the variety of boats and
watercraft in Nanaimo harbor before sitting down to lunch. Boy this
trip is all fun and food!! After lunch we continue our way north
along the ocean through Parksville, Qualicum
Beach and other small coastal communities to Courtenay
for tea. Then it's back south where we visit Coombs
where goats live on the roof of the local market and other nifty
things are always going on. We continue westward taking in the MONSTER
TREES at Cathederal Grove in Macmillan
Park before arriving in Port Alberni where
we spend the night.
Day 3: At 8 AM we board the M.V. Frances
Barkley for a 5 hour cruise down the Alberni Inlet, past
the Broken Islands, to Ucluelet.
The scenery on this trip is spectacular! You may even see some whales.
Clayoquot Sound is wild and beautiful! We will stay on the West
Coast exploring Long Beach and the numerous art
galleries in Tofino until 3 PM at which time we
retrace our tracks across the Island and get you back to your point
of origin. |
