We begin the day with a stop at historic Whippletree Junction
General Store where we will pick up our ‘picnic basket’
(single or double) then it’s on to GBS Glassblowing
for a fascinating demonstration of the fine art of hand blown glass,
each person will receive a glass (white or red wine styles) Lunch
will be at Steeples where chef Darren does amazing
things with locally produced foods. Then we will head to Cherry
Point Vineyard for a sampling of their wines and a bottle
of red or white for your basket. Cheese Pointe Farm is the next
stop for a taste of Hilary’s Fine Cheeses,
choose which type you’d like to take with you. On to the bustling
seaside village of Cowichan Bay and The Cowichan Bay Organic
Bakery to choose your loaf or rolls. Then a scenic drive
up to Fairburn Heritage Farm & Water Buffalo Dairy
for some healthy and delicious smoked sausage (and of course a visit
with the sweet natured water buffalo). Be on the lookout throughout
the day for one of the many farm gate markets with
fresh seasonal fruit to top off your basket. Take your basket home
with you or enjoy it at one of Cowichan’s beautiful parks
or beaches. Bon Appetite!
