Package Details:
We will pick you up at your Hotel or place of residence at 10 AM for
a drive over the spectacular Malahat Pass. Enroute we will stop at
Goldstream Provincial Park, known for it’s
old-growth trees and the tens of thousands of salmon that migrate
up the Goldstream River each fall to spawn.
We will also stop at the Split Rock Viewpoint where
your guide will point out interesting landmarks. You are provided
with the most scenic view of Saanich Peninsula, the Gulf Islands and
the San Juan Islands. Great opportunity for photos.
Then it’s on through the Cowichan Valley, past grazing cattle
and sheep to Chemainus. Known as "the little town that did©," this community came back from the brink of economic
disaster when the local sawmill threatened to close in the early 1980’s.
The community banded together and adorned the outside walls of the
town with larger than life depictions of its history and heritage.
Your guide will provide you with a guided tour of the murals and other
historic sites aboard the “steam train” or by horse-drawn
trolley. You will also have plenty of time to enjoy lunch and the
many quaint and varied shops that have made Chemainus a must stop
on the Vancouver Island sightseeing circuit. |
